There will be a change to the entrance and exit of the Central Sports Park for a few days as crews work to repair one of the roads into the park. From June 19th to June 22nd the westbound entrance to the park will be closed for repairs. During that time the eastbound exit will be made into a two-way entrance and exit. The City of Central will be making a final pass to collect flood debris from homes in the city beginning on June 26th. Collection of debris will begin that day, so the city is asking anyone with flood debris remaining in their home or on their property to move it to the road on the right of way in front of their house by that date. Matt Smith is a Baton Rouge native who joins the team at City Hall after four years working as a producer for WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge. Smith graduated from LSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications from the Manship School, prior to that he attended Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. Mayor Shelton is pleased to announce that the two contracts for cleaning the canals and off road ditches are being awarded to Looks Great Services from Columbia, MS. After an extensive bid process and followup with references, the award is being made so Central's drainage system and its performance can be improved.
