Chief Corcoran, began his Law Enforcement career as a Deputy with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office in 1984 until his retirement in 2018. During his tour of duty, he worked at the Downtown Jail, before attending and graduating from Louisiana State University, 92nd Basic Training Academy for Law Enforcement after being transferred to the Uniform Patrol Division. Chief Corcoran then transferred within Detective Bureau where he worked for over 30 years in Narcotics, Burglary, Metro Squad, Armed Robbery and Burglary, Criminal Investigations and Homicide within the Violent Crimes Unit. Chief Corcoran was also a member of the Special Response Team (SWAT), 20+ years as a member then Commander of the Sheriff’s Posse’ and 34 years as a member then Commander of the Sheriff’s Honor Guard before retiring as a Lieutenant with 34+ years of service.

Chief Corcoran was elected as Central’s 3rd Police Chief in November 2018 and began his first term in office on January 1, 2019, where he continues his Law Enforcement service in protecting our citizens and our community.
