Gov. Edwards pledges DOTD support to Central

Gov. John Bel Edwards promised that DOTD will pursue culvert upgrades and culvert additions throughout state highways in Central during a meeting on Thursday morning with Mayor Shelton and DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson.

The governor also instructed DOTD to help clear culverts and cross drains along state highways in Central.

Mayor Shelton reported that the meeting was productive. He said that various methods of funding were discussed.

"Hopefully we will see these actions put into place in the near future. It's pretty significant that the governor specifically instructed DOTD to help Central," Shelton said.

Sen. Bodi White and the governor's chief of staff, Mark Cooper, were also in attendance. Mayor Shelton thanked the senator for orchestrating the meeting.
