Crews begin work on $4 million drainage project

Work has now begun to clean canals and off-road ditches to improve Central's Drainage system.

Looks Great Services of Columbia, MS now has equipment in the water removing debris and vegetation after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers signed off on the project as not needing a permit.

The $4 million dollar project includes cleaning some of the most obstructed areas from the August 2016 flood.

CSRS (an engineering firm contracted by the city to oversee the FEMA reimbursement process) will oversee the process from start to finish.

The City Administration is committed to improving Central's drainage system, and will continue to work on the comprehensive plan as the recently award contracts move forward. In fact, CSRS is currently working on mapping grids and preliminary work needed for the long term plan.
