The City of Central will host a public Review Committee meeting tomorrow, January 4th, 2018 at 2 p.m. for the City Services RFQ. As outlined in the schedule published in the RFQ, this meeting is the 7th step in the City selecting a municipal services contractor. The meeting tomorrow is for the Review Committee to score the proposals ONLY. A contractor WILL NOT be selected tomorrow. After the Review Committee meeting, the Mayor will conduct individual interviews with each bidder. The Mayor will make a recommendation to the City Council on January 9th, at the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting. Upon City Council approval, the contract will be executed on January 31st, 2018, and the 5- year contract will begin on July 1st, 2018.

The Mayor has chosen five other committee members, along with his self, with extensive experience in municipal services and large labor and contract negotiations. Those committee members are as followed:

Fred Raiford – Current East Baton Rouge Parish Director of Streets and Drainage. Former Chief of Staff for the City of Walker. 30+ years of work and experience in the East Baton Rouge Parish public works system. He also co-chaired the previous City Services search committee.

Melvin “Kip” Holden – Former Mayor President of East Baton Rouge Parish. Served as Mayor President for 12 years.

Brennan Easley – Owner and President of Trade Construction

Gil Matherne – Owner and President of GM Cable Contractors.

Only two proposals were received by the December 22nd deadline, and therefore eligible for consideration. IBTS, the current municipal services contractor, and CSRS, Inc were the only companies to submit proposals.
