Help Keep Drains and Culverts Clean during Flash Floods

As these pictures show, a perfectly clean drainage structure can become clogged quickly with grass clippings from yards during flash flood events, causing local street flooding. During heavy rains, grass clippings from yards on the street can float down to the nearest drain or driveway culvert and clog it quickly. All it takes is a few scoops with a shovel to clear the drains after the rain stops. We ask everyone for their assistance in checking their drains and driveway culverts after heavy rains to keep them clear so that the water can drain.
