snow

Please see the below weather update and attached slides from the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans / Baton Rouge.

  • There is a low potential of snowSaturday evening into early Sunday morning as a cold front pushes through our area.
  • Antecedent ground conditions will be mild, likely eliminating risk for snow to accumulate quickly. However, bridges may need to be monitored.
  • If there are impacts, they will likely be short lived as we’ll warm up above freezing by mid-morning, with highs near 50 by the afternoon.
  • Whether or not we will see any snow will be highly dependent on where the front ends up and how much moisture can return to the area while the atmosphere can still support producing snow.
  • There is a low confidence forecast at this time and the NWS will be able to obtain a better understanding of the risk of accumulating snow by tomorrow.
  • Cold weather is forecasted for our area Sunday through Tuesday with morning lows in the mid to upper 20’s and will chills into the low to mid 20’s.snowsnowsnow
