Please see the below update from the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans/Baton Rouge regarding Tropical Depression Two:

  • Tropical Depression Two (TD2) has drifted to the northwest and will continue to do so for the next 12-24 hours as it tries to get a little better organized.

  • By Tuesday, it will turn more westward in response to upper level high pressure building in from the west.

  • TD2 is expected to attain tropical storm strength later today and continue to slowly strengthen to around 50 mph Tuesday as it moves into the north-central Gulf.

  • Track was shifted slightly north bringing TD2 into SE LA as a 50 mph Tropical Storm Wednesday

  • If the current forecast holds, the NWS is confident that minor to moderate impacts will be experienced across the local area. Most of the rain will remain south of the I-10/12 corridor. However, most of those locations will see under an inch.

  • There is still lower than normal confidence in the intensity forecast and there could still be adjustments to the forecast impacts.
