Please see the below weather update and attached slides from the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans / Baton Rouge regarding Tropical Storm Bertha.
- There are no significant changes to previous Tropical Storm Bertha updates.
- Tropical Storm Bertha, is moving west and will continue to through the rest of the forecast. It now has sustained winds of near 50 mph.
- Bertha is forecast to bring minor to moderate impacts to mainly coastal areas early this morning through midday Thursday, though isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms could linger into the afternoon.
- Biggest concern for our area is heat advisories – An extreme heat warning is in effect for East Baton Rouge Parish today with heat indices as high as 118 degrees.
- Less than ½” of rain is forecasted for EBR over the next 7 days.
