Due to the potential for icy conditions and in an effort to keep residents and crews safe by limiting vehicle traffic on the roads, all garbage, recycling, and out-of-cart collection services will be cancelled on Monday, January 26.
Additionally, the North Landfill and the Starwood Court Collection Facility will be closed.
Services will resume on the resident’s next regularly scheduled collection day.
The Department of Maintenance has already begun salting roadways as part of ongoing efforts to reduce hazardous conditions. Residents are encouraged to limit travel and exercise caution if travel is necessary.

Our Public Works team is doing outstanding work. Crews were out this afternoon applying de-icer to bridges to help prevent freezing and potential closures. Conditions will be monitored continuously throughout this weather event.
Please minimize unnecessary travel.
City personnel are on duty 24/7 during emergency events. The Public Works line at 262-5000 should be used to report trees down in roadways. For emergencies or downed power lines, call 911.
Stay warm, stay safe, and please remember to protect your pets.

Now Open!

Sullivan Road is closed at Huntley/Central Woods for a down powerline.

⚠️ WEATHER UPDATE⚠️
The City is prepared and ready for the upcoming weather event. Our Public Works crews are scheduled to begin applying de-icer on Sunday afternoon and will work to maintain safe passage at the Comite River crossings on Highway 64, Hooper Road, and Greenwell Springs Road.
Residents are strongly encouraged to limit unnecessary travel once temperatures drop into a hard freeze. Reducing non-essential travel allows our crews and first responders to remain focused on emergency situations and helps minimize the risk of accidents.
If you observe a fallen limb or tree within the public right-of-way, please report it to Public Works at 225-262-5000. If you encounter a downed power line, do not approach it. Call 911 immediately.
Please be safe, stay warm, and prepare for the possibility of power outages.

Last night, we came together in Baton Rouge for our children’s future.
The Vital Signs Family Forum is designed to equip parents and communities with the tools they need to protect our kids from the dangers of drug addiction. You can learn how to spot the early signs of substance abuse so you can take action before it’s too late.
Be on the lookout for another Victoria's Voice Foundation event in the City of Central!

“With the recent news of reorganization at BREC, we’re taking a look at two playgrounds with the same goal—but built through two very different processes. Same purpose. Very different results. More to come.” -Wade Evans, Vice Chairmen of the BREC Commission

"While we are flushing you may possibly experience lower pressure than normal and could have a tint in the water. If you use any water in your home during the posted flush times you may draw this water into your plumbing system. Toilets and hot water heaters have tanks that can keep this water around long after we are done. If you continue to have discoloration or cloudy water after the posted flush has ended, please let the cold water tap in your kitchen run for approximately 3-5 minutes. If the cold water in the kitchen is clear and the hot water and toilets still have a tint, they may require a brief flush. If any of these issues continue after the posted flush times, please call us at 225-925-2011."

Let's celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his enduring message of equality, justice, and peace. Let’s honor his dream by continuing to work towards a more inclusive and compassionate world. Happy MLK Jr. Day!

Offices will open on Tuesday.
