Greenwell Springs road closed. Both eastbound lanes coming into Central between Frenchtown and Sullivan Road are closed due to a natural gas leak. Westbound going into Baton Rouge is open.

Mayor Wade Evans, Planning Director Taurus Freeman, and Economic Development Director Ron Erickson are currently reviewing and marking up the Future Land Use Plan as part of the City of Central’s 2045 Master Plan.
The Master Plan serves as the city’s guiding document for future growth and development. Since becoming involved in local government, Mayor Evans has consistently emphasized that development in Central should follow the principles outlined in this plan.
When the original Master Plan was created, key infrastructure such as the Central Thruway and Magnolia Bridge had not yet been built, and Sullivan Road remained a two-lane roadway. As Central continues to grow and infrastructure evolves, it is critical that our plans are updated to reflect these changes and ensure that development decisions align with the city’s long-term vision.

There is a motor vehicle accicent on Deerford Rd (Greenwell Sprinfs-Port Hudson Pride) in front of Chaneyville Fire Department. Both lanes are closed at this time.

We had a wonderful time at our monthly ministerial prayer meeting Thursday morning at Covenant Community Church. A special thank you to Pastor Jeff Stanfill and his team for their warm fellowship and hospitality. Pastor Stanfill shared a powerful message on the importance of faith, drawing from the story of the lame beggar. We are grateful for the encouragement and unity these gatherings bring to our community.

"While we are flushing you may possibly experience lower pressure than normal and could have a tint in the water. If you use any water in your home during the posted flush times you may draw this water into your plumbing system. Toilets and hot water heaters have tanks that can keep this water around long after we are done. If you continue to have discoloration or cloudy water after the posted flush has ended, please let the cold water tap in your kitchen run for approximately 3-5 minutes. If the cold water in the kitchen is clear and the hot water and toilets still have a tint, they may require a brief flush. If any of these issues continue after the posted flush times, please call us at 225-925-2011."
